What to wear to those holiday parties

It’s time! December, with its umpteen reasons to celebrate, is right around the corner. Getting a headache just thinking about it? Don’t panic.
Here are some suggestions to liven, jazz and/or spruce up these four basic articles of clothing that most of us have in our wardrobe.

Jeans

To drag those jeans into the Christmas spirit, choose a romantic top and pumps. Here the lace sleeves and denim look right for a big night out and the shoes add a dash of chic with their golden heels.  As you know, accessories are everything. So when you choose your bag, go for a clutch (a little evening bag you hold in your hand).

* For that little EXTRA: Get out your cropped jeans to show off your ankles … and your new shoes!

A pencil skirt

There’s nothing better than leather to give a bit of oomph to this item that’s more a regular  for Monday morning meetings and sales pitches. The contrast between that otherwise serious skirt and its sexy leather side means you’ll be styling for sure!

* For that little EXTRA: Jewellery! Go for gold! It’s absolutely the time to wear it.

A white shirt

To make that ordinary white shirt holiday-ready, you need the skirt of the hour. A pleated skirt, no less. You’ve noticed this lately, too, right? To wear it well, you’ve got to show the waistband. In other words, wear that top UNDER the skirt. What’s more, to highlight it, I quite like to add a belt to hide that ever-so-boring elastic…

* For that little EXTRA: Add a pussybow. This little necktie scarf will give any shirt you bought last year a new life!

lpg-blogue_16-11-22_03_enThis look : skirt 125$ (Tristan), belt 50$ (Simons), top 29,99$ (H&M), floppy necktle 25$ (Simons), shoes 80$ (Aldo)

A dress

Only fur can turn a simple article of clothing into dress wear for a big night out… Here, I’ve made the scarf into a stole, tying it in at the waist.   And what really floats my boat as a stylist is that the scarf can go with your coat all winter while the belt can pick up your look all year… Of course, you can also wear the scarf the same way (as a stole) with your jeans and a simple top, even a turtleneck, for an evening with friends…

* For that little EXTRA: A short necklace or choker. Are you in your 50s or 60s? Spring for this necklace. It’s IN and makes a big difference. This is a fashion you can easily wear. Va-va-voom!!!

Psst! Got those shoes I’m wearing in every picture? Classic pointed toe pumps? They’re the best all-purpose shoe there is. They’ll do you for anything. If you had to buy just one pair, it should be these. So don’t skimp on comfort, even if it means forking out a bit more…

Now go enjoy happy hour season!
