Neon’s in: Here’s how to wear it

You betcha — fashion’s getting more colourful. And, we’re happy to say, spring and summer 2019 will feature touches here and there of a new trend: NEON. In pink, green, yellow or violet shades, neon will be everywhere this season. Whether you wear it discretely with an accessory, or make a bigger splash, with pants or a sweater, here are 5 ways to wear this throwback 80s fashion.

With spring here, we all (yes, all) need to add a bit of colour to our wardrobe. This year, try neon! A neon sweater goes perfectly with denim or black pants. For a more subtle look, neon works wonders worn under a jacket or overalls. It’s a nice way to take a more typically chic look and make it casual.

You’re sure to find something at Simons or Garage. We’ve got a thing for this crossover shirt we’ve unearthed.

If you dare to wear it in pants, neon can be AWESOME. It adds character and elegance to any outfit — guaranteed! But how do you wear it? Easy. With a white T-shirt, a long-sleeve sweater or a striped tank top. Our favourite neon pant is this fluid wide-leg crepe number from Simons.

For a retro look and to add a bit (no, a lot) of punch to your everyday look, you’ve got to try neon in a dress. For work, a midi dress goes just right with pumps and a black jacket. For the weekend, swap out the pumps for sandals and you’re set.

Looking for a neon or pink dress to bring in April just right? Then see you at Urban Planet.

To downplay the neon, why not wear it all the way down, on your feet? It’s a subtle way to sport this 80s fashion. Whether you wear it with jeans, or solid-coloured or patterned pants, neon adds a nice, bright touch to any outfit. Thanks, Aldo, for carrying these very far out items, affordable and comfortable. We owe you one!

In short, whether you go all-in or tone it down, neon is a must for 2019. Worn with solid colours from your wardrobe or understated with a fanny pack, on your nails or in a bikini, trust us — neon will be EVERYWHERE.
